Traditions and teeth!

THE TOOTH IS HERE

Today was another big in Aerten's life - he got his first tooth. The irony of it all is that it was the toothless Olga who spotted it! I have been keeping an eye on his gums over the last few weeks and on the day that I hand him over to be babysat for a few hours he sprouts a tooth!
Anyway in the short period of the afternoon after I discovered the tooth two people told me that I must make pancakes to celebrate the tooth! Crazy traditions around the world! Olga (my toothless fairy) suggested that I let Aerten celebrate with lollipops and cake - hmm will give that a miss. Have instead celebrated in honour of my Mum and brushed the one little tooth before bed time tonight!

Play Time

Aerten and I went to another mothers group meeting today. Unlike the other little ones who are crawling and standing Aerten is quite happy to sit in the corner and try and eat things - however he did launch one of his famous 'attack kisses' at the lovely little Lulu - that's my boy!

Just Amazing

We're home - in Cape Town that is. After an absolute amazing holiday in Europe we have now finally found our way back here. The plans for the next few weeks are relaxation in and around CT - and then of course the usual visitors from overseas.

Aerten is having his first midday sleep in his own cot! And the amazing blankie is a home made goodie from the lovely Vernicus! When I first opened the pressie I was amazed by the lovely pillow case she had crocheted for Aerten however my curiosity got the better of me and I had to have a look inside to find out what it was stuffed with - only to find that the pillowcase was a custom made bag for the amazing blankie! Thank you so much Vernicus.

Self feeding 2

Aerten might not be able to sit up or move around like all of his little mothers group friends but he can feed himself! Probably a good indication of his priorities in life. At least his ever supportive auntie Kate was very impressed.

Aerten has full on fights with his toys these days. Unfortunately Aerten looses most of the times! Stupid toys that won't fit in his mouth can really get him upset - to the point where I have to hide the toy to calm him down! Might have to work on that patience!

The world from way up high

Mormor may have jumped the gun a little bit with the high chair but Aerten did his best to hold his head high. Dad thinks he looks a little like Snoopy at the helm of a Tiger Moth in the head gear.

Did you notice my sun hat? And some of my relatives on Dad's side think the sun never shines in Denmark.

Aerten was very brave going on the big train until they entered the tunnel. Then it all became too much and the big bottom lip came out (Aerten always puts out a big quivering bottom lip when he is scared or feels very sorry for himself) He only just calmed down in time for the train to reach the tunnel again! Poor wee soul.
